The Government has decided to extend a ban on foreign travellers arriving from China.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said cabinet had decided the current restrictions, which expire at midnight, should remain in place for a further eight days.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health's technical advisory group is looking at whether a travel ban may be extended to other countries.

During her Post Cabinet meeting on Monday, Ardern also outlined how equipped New Zealand would be if there was an outbreak and the steps in the health systems to deal with it.

The Prime Minister repeated several times throughout the press conference that the government is "planning but not predicting" a severe outbreak in New Zealand. Meanwhile they are also counting the cost of the travel ban which may extend to other countries such as South Korea, Italy and Japan. Stay tuned.
