Tomorrow ACBC (Australia China Business Council) will launch a national campaign in The Australian newspaper to show our support for China during the global humanitarian crisis caused by the coronavirus. The campaign has been supported by business and government groups across Australia.

“Australia and China have both experienced a tragic start to the new year. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of Australian and Chinese companies offering donations and support to both countries. It’s a great testimony to the strong bonds between our two countries.” said ACBC National CEO, Helen Sawczak 海伦.

On LinkedIn, Bernie Harrop, Executive Chairman at Remotenergy, says:

"Right now, would be a good time for a “Bridging Project” in Australia , between our two great Countries, Australia and China have so much to offer each other."

Racism and prejudice are so insidious, and often based on a lack of understanding of the people we are discriminating against. This campaign starts to drive that process back with a simple message. What would be great would as a followup is to let everyday Australians see the extent of the Chinese community's generosity towards bushfire recovery. There are stories that need telling, to help us understand the bigger picture. From a good foundation of cultural and contextual understanding comes the conditions for better commerce going forward. Great work ACBC.
