From @Richard Yuan | 袁祖文 :
"H. E Mr. Wang Yi, China's Foreign Minister and my alumni of Beijing International Studies University, expressed his strong desire to have the relationship back on track "as early as possible".
This is almost a direct response from one of the most senior minsters in China to the goodwill gesture extended by our PM Scott Morrison in late November, uttered in such a direct way. This requires real Aussie, well-trained diplomats and experts to interpret and advise properly so that our decision makers can take the best approach to mend the ill-maintained relationship, often misinterpreted locally.
This is an olive branch, extended by the foreign minister of our largest trading partner, ready to re-establish and re-align our relationship. It can not be more positive, especially at a time when our ministers' calls were not answered.
This is the very end of the year 2020, I do hope cooler heads prevail and in 2021, things would happen for the better."
